Flashing your radio requires setting up your network interface, powering the radio correctly, and then using the web interface to upload new firmware and configure it for home use. Follow these steps to get started.

  1. Prepare Your Computer

    • Download the VH-Network Assistant Tool

    • Extract and run the tool.
    • This program will automatically configure your computer’s Ethernet interface to communicate with the radio.
  2. Power the Radio

    • Option A: POE (Power over Ethernet) — Plug the POE injector into the POE port on the radio. Flip the switch on the back to enable POE mode.
    • Option B: VRM Power Supply — Use the VRM with ferrules to provide 12V / 2A to the radio.
  3. Connect to the Radio

    • Connect the DS port on the radio to your computer’s Ethernet port.
    • Open the VH-Network Assistant Tool, choose Ethernet as the interface, and click Configure.
    • Once complete, click Open Web Interface to launch the management page in your browser.
  4. Flash the Firmware

    1. Go to the bottom of the webpage where it says Firmware.
    2. Upload the firmware .bin or .img file provided by the manufacturer. This can be found at the offical docs site for the VH-109
    3. Wait for the flashing process to finish—the radio will reboot automatically.
  5. Configure WiFI

    • Select Access Point Mode
    • Set the Team Number of your robot (ex: 4504)
    • Network Settings: Set a recognizable SSID
    • Set a password
    • Set the Wifi Channel (ex: 5)
    • Toggle the AP switch on the back of the radio to the on positon, otherwise the radio will not post a WiFi network.
    • Save & Reboot: Apply settings, connect the radio to the RIO & switch, and reboot the radio so changes take effect.
